Happy Mother’s Day to all of the maternal influences in my life, particularly the strong women in my own family! Pictured is an artwork I created five years ago for my grandmother’s 90th birthday depicting my great great grandmother, great grandmother, grandmother, aunt, mother, cousin and me, all around the same age with features of our Chinese zodiac animals. Also sending love to those who have lost their mothers; mothers who have lost their children; those with strained relationships with their mothers/children; those yearning to be mothers; and anyone else who needs it today! ❤️ #mothersday #asianheritagemonth
“It’s a dinglehopper. Humans use these little babies to straighten their hair out.” I always feel a combination of amused and indignant when I see people wearing chopsticks in their hair when they want to “look Asian”. Hair sticks are used in traditional hair styles but they are actually different to chopsticks. One time I was particularly annoyed, I joked to @littleredwrites that the only situation where it would be appropriate to have chopsticks in your hair would be if you were a Disney Princess hybrid of Ariel (who thought forks were for hair) and Mulan. Each week, tuning in to dance along with @evielibertine and the Ignition showgirls has been the highlight of my week! Even when I haven’t felt sparkly to start with, I always feel as if I’ve been dipped in rhinestones by the end of the class! It’s also excellent for me to be tricked into doing cardio! Next term at @bombshellburlesque I’m enrolled in Body Confidence 101 with @lenore_n , Stretch n Flex with @ms.martini.mcfly and Open Chair Dance with @lilaluxx ! I’m so excited that term starts next week! I’m already very grateful that we have the opportunity to continue with classes online. But one thing that would make it even more excellent would be if my dear friend K Chardonnay could join me for one of the classes, all the way from Berlin, so I’m nominating her for the #bbaburlyathomescholarship 🖤💚
