Are you hungry for some tantalizing tapping, fabulous feathers and adorable artistry? This delectable dumpling will whet more than your appetite! It’s Ruby Corvette, the syncopated sweetie pie!
A fun-sized burlesque beauty with exotic heritage and enticing curves, Ruby is as sweet and delightfully plump as one of her mama’s barbeque pork buns!
A Brisbane-based babe, Ruby is a favourite on the menu at Vanguard Burlesque, Bombshell Burlesque, and Curves & Claws: Variety and Burlesque Show, and is a Queensland State Finalist for Miss Burlesque Australia. But Ruby is not just a Sunshine State delicacy as she, last year, made her interstate debut at historic entertainment hotspot Lizotte’s for Burlesque Idol Newcastle and then travelled further south for the Australian Burlesque Festival New Follies in St Kilda, Melbourne.
As the daughter of a ballerina, Ruby studied tap dancing for 15 years under the tutelage of another unforgettable Miss Munroe. And was raised on a diet of limelight, sequins and juvenile eisteddfod medals.
Ruby draws inspiration from her favourite MGM musicals and the grungy moves of golden age grind legends, combining the two to form a style she calls “whiskey tap”. Her performances are a delightful mix of theatricality and tongue-in-cheek seduction which will keep your toes tapping, fingers snapping and heart racing faster than a helping of Cantonese chili hotpot.
In contrast to the brash boldness of tap, Ruby’s latest secret ingredient is fan dancing. She fell head over (kitten) heels for the graceful art form when she first caressed some borrowed plumes and has never looked back. Her stunning “Kissing You” act combines classic ostrich feather fans with the 90s crush of her youth, leaving audiences captivated and blinking back tears of nostalgia.
She’ll put the spring in your roll, the sticky in your rice, and your duck will certainly be Peking! What a dish! Get ready to sample the syncopated sweetie pie!
